I'm playing with making a static blog on my main site, Dragon Affairs, using Jekyll and Compass. I'm finding Jekyll a delight to use. I'll get to playing with Compass soon. The site's layout isn't very pretty at the moment, though I did experiment with the look of several fonts recently.

Google Application-Specific Passwords

I learned something this morning. I wanted to try using Thunderbird to access my GMail account, but it couldn't login. It turns out that I needed an application-specific password (the link is to Google's instructions). I think it's because I added two-factor authentication.

Anyways, I like having access to my email through something other than a web page. Google does a good job providing a "rich interface" on a web page, but it still feels difficult to use. It's been a while since I've used Thunderbird, but I suspect it will be like riding a bicycle.

Happy Computing,
Doug
